Hotel Valley Ho, Scottsdale - Guest Rooms Refurbishment
Director of Interior design, Anissa Mendil, had a unique and wonderful opportunity to refurbish 185 guest rooms and six suites at the Hotel Valley Ho in Scottsdale during 2015. This was an especially exciting project due to Anissa's passion for mid-century modern design and her love of this property. Her intent with this project was to draw inspiration from the iconic mid-century designs that the Hotel Valley Ho is known for, yet adapt them in ways that make the rooms feel fresh, modern, and comfortable for guests. Additionally, Anissa wanted to avoid any type of monotony that can sometimes occur in standard hotel rooms, so she designed them to feel more like rooms in an eclectic home, complete with personalized art work in each one.
- Custom designed window sheers that feature an iconic mid-century starburst design.
- Solid walnut bed frame with rounded ages to enhance the guest experience and avoid things like shin-bumps that can happen with standard cornered frames
- The headboard extends fully along the wall behind the bed and has a built in reading light. This piece was designed to enhance guest comfort, and also add a touch of mid-century flair to the room by including a polka dot design.
- The bar top is made of a pre-consumer waste aluminum flake and acrylic material made by Alkemi. This material is different from the walnut on the desk and vanity to either side, so although they are all connected it creates the feel of a little cocktail bar within the room. Sustainability was important with this project, and this piece is not only recycled, but it can be recycled again.
