Principal Architect (aka ‘Doodle Master’)
After a high school trip to Italy sparked Rick’s interest in building design, he graduated from Miami of Ohio with a degree in Environmental Design. He then moved to Arizona and following a stint working for a design build firm, he became the Director of Architecture and Design for Pennington Construction, an Arizona land developer group. His designs were instrumental to the development of the man-made lake communities – The Springs of Chandler and The Islands in Gilbert.
In 1983, Rick started his own firm, Rick Daugherty Architecture, concentrating on high-end custom homes, small office buildings, tenant improvements, and small-to mid-size development projects including land planning. He has designed homes and offices throughout Arizona – including the prestigious communities of Gainey Ranch, Desert Mountain, Paradise Valley, Scottsdale – and around the country.
During his career one focus has always driven him – the spaces he designs are about the people who will live and work within them. When not at the drawing board, Rick, and his wife, Linda, love attending live Blues music events, checking out local restaurants, and traveling – especially to the beach.
